WHY NOT MAKING SOME COFFEE WHILE WAITING FOR FOOD?

COOKING WITH STELLA

You can learn different kind of traditional Tanzanian food here. We specialize in Chagga food, Machalari, which is made of banana, beef, onions, potatos and optional vegetables.

Simple recipe of Machalari:

  1. Clean the beef and stew it. (Vegetarian or vegan can skip this step).

  2. You will be taken to banana plantation and pick up banana by yourself.

  3. Peel the banana and mix with potato, onions and beef. Stew for one hour.

Our cooking teacher, Stella, was cutting vegetables without a board.

CHAGGA VILLAGE

Let's have a nice walk around the village after having food and coffee. We will visit some Chagga (tribe) families and see their traditional lifestyle. After that, we will go to a 150-years-old cave in the village.

Chagga traditional house is cone-shaped, with a roof thatched with dried grass.

Swahili houses were rectangular, with walls made of wattle (interwoven sticks) and mud, and thatched roofs.
